How to create great music:

Have you ever listened to a great performance and wondered “how can I do that?” Have you ever had the experience of going to your practice room, trying to imitate that great performance and coming up short? I know I have.

The Lindemann-Sobel-Potts approach is an approach to making music that considers how we relate to our instrument and how we relate to the notes on the page. It is a set of concepts and techniques that, if applied correctly, take the mystery out of music. Before studying this approach I would often have the experience of missing a note in a performance and afterward wondering why. Music felt like some kind of magical alchemy. One had to have just the right mysterious conditions to flawlessly execute. Lindemann-Sobel-Potts approach has taken the mystery out of music for me.
